Teachers talking to Lectures.
They brought their school magazines to be displayed!
Phweettt, Ms Josephine!
The Dean of Taylor's School of Communication. Always there to give a welcome speech.
Hands up who wants to be in the media line?!
My famous Media Law lecturer! I kena bom from him once cause I wasn't doing his work in class. Okay, I admit, I'm not the perfect student, I do misbehave.
His class is awesome, he taught me so much about copyright, breach of confidence and the rights of one's work. It may be very theoretical but he somewhat made most of his lectures work by adding some interesting elements that catches us students attention.
He is Mr Justin Victor, also the Programme Director of Bachelor of Journalism.
A young but strict lecturer when it comes to marking. She had her fair experience working with The Star News desk. I remember she would tell us stories about her job as a journalist and telling us that no matter what, there will be people out there that disagree with your article. Journalist have to learn the art of being Thick Face and not afraid to ask questions. Her statement changes my perspective of a journalist job, much hard work, sweat and tears poured into one single article. You have to be very strong in every aspect to be a great journalist. She taught me International Media Communication (IMC).
Pencil or pen? Doesn't really matter as long as it gets you writing!
Hehe before writing, journalist needs to be able to control their emotions. It will be so unprofessional of you if you get overly excited when you are interviewing a superstar, if you get too emotional flamed when trying to report a political matter or even gets too emotionally attached while reporting an unfortunate incident.
Taylor's brings to you the man that can Psycho you! Hehe, my funny yet serious Psychology Lecturer taught me in foundation. He can make a joke and keep his facial expression still. Goodness, how I miss his lecture but hated his exams questions. Lols.
You should know who is this. Shame on you if you don't!
He is the very famous.
The hall of essentials for Communication student. Left&Right you will find a room that suits your needs.
Newsroom.
PR Point. A place where all PR students come and ber-brainstorm for ideas.
Collect data....
Brainstorm..
This room is where all my classmates and I bond on the day of assignment due. Haha, last minute work and printing! It shows everyone's true colours when they are under pressure!
Interview related people for our article later.
Journalist use all kinds of recording devices. Why I don't see no use paper and pen?! lols.
Miss, Questions.....
Ok, let's file our news to our editors now!
With a Mac Computer in Taylor's Mac Lab.
Other than just writing the news here, Comm students uses them to design our magazine and newspaper layout with Adobe Indesign.
So this is one example of a hard news. Hard news are exactly like those you see on the breaking news section of the newspapers. They are considered as important and serious news where they reports mainly based on facts using who, what, when, where, why & how (5Ws&1H) to present the news. News Reporting was one of my HD subjects :p
More Hard News sample.
Another Hard news.
He worked many, many, many years in the Hard news desk of The Star Publication.
One awesome lecturer, he taught me Reporting For Media (RFM), which is where I got my high distinction.
This is a feature article, if you can tell the difference, they are more relax and easy to read.
Though, it is always mistaken as the easiest to write. They require more in depth research as it is not just reporting the facts. Sensory language used here are significant and the reader need to be able to capture the emotions of your work piece.
Another feature article

Check out the prizes, gosh why didn't they give these things to their students as a incentives while I was studying? :(
I'm glad that Taylor's didn't go cheap on the prizes! These three items are definitely very useful for those aspires to be a journalist or a writer. Yes with iPod, you can record interviews, not just to play musics.
