This coming 29 June 2012, Taylor's and YAM are organizing a seminar talk where 3 speakers from the Digital Industry are invited to talk about trending careers in the digital arena in the upcoming times. Timothy Tiah, founder of Nuffnang and 2 other very distinguished guest whom are experts in the digital industry too!

If you are interested please do go to YAM FB Event Page here to RSVP and also drop by YAM's FB page and give them a big 'Like'! The event is FOC and everyone is welcome!

This talk is just great because we are so into the digital world right now and we have heard so many people are actually reaching out to others virally. Who knows, you may just get a job that requires you to stay home and just go online!

Personally, I'm a blogger, I have my own personal blog too. I enjoy blogging and it would be great if I could just be a full time blogger and get paid! Wahahahaha. Goodness, I have to attend this talk.

My senior's Graduation before my Graduation!

Meet Akil Yunus, he was a participant for the Graduan Aspire 2011. The gist of the event was to inform fresh graduates to be less picky when it comes to your first job. We know these days that it is tough to find a job and there are more and more degree holder these days, we are in a constant competition to keep our source of income steady. As a student, it may not affect you as much but when you are coming to an end just like me, you will feel the pressure. The thought of 'What if you don't get a job?!' haunts you day ad night until you get a placement.

Akil is my senior major in journalism, he was a scholar and a valedictorian for his class graduates! I can still remember him bringing me around the campus with my other classmates on our first day of orientation. They had their graduation last sunday and I was so proud of all my seniors. At the same time, I can't wait for mine!

Akil is now working in NST and some of his other classmates working in Star, Groupon and etc.

In Taylor's, before we go into the workforce, every student are required to get an internship placement for a period of 8 weeks. Fret not, the lecturer in charge will give you a list of company if you have no idea what you want to do. As for me, I applied for Genting PR based in Highlands and I got it! I will be reporting in on the 25 june 2012!
Excited for graduation?

Loreal Brandstorm champions goes to Team Taylors!

Remember I was talking about the Loreal Brandstorm and some of Taylorians took part? Guess What, National Champion falls to one of our Taylor's team!!!!

INTRODUCING your new product as a “men’s intimate hygiene wash” would tend to raise some eyebrows, as it indeed did during the L’Oreal Brandstorm 2012 Malaysian finals last Wednesday.
Team Brandster, comprising Taylor’s University students Koo Yen Woon, Chan Wing Onn, and Sonia Louise Hiew, clinched the top spot in the competition for their product “GetPersonal” - essentially a wash for the delicate parts of a man’s body. Read more in the Star>>
Lols, I can still remember them asking me to fill up some poll for her about whether I will suggest a hygiene wash to men. I was like no I won't cause I feel men around me will never use these things unless they are like some wash that can help prevent Aids/HIV cause uni students these days are sexually active. Hahaha! I know, I can be quite overly creative with my answers!
Anyway, I would like to congratulate them for winning! and going to Paris in JUNE and who knows might even win again and have their product in the market!

I do hope that they are going to show us more about places that they offering for the students to travel so that we can expect what is coming for us when we decide to be apart of this great opportunity! :D Also, I do hope to be able to see some pictures of what others have experience. I'm going to show you some of the places my friends have been with AIESEC and the things that they did.

Friend #1 Serene
One of the closest friend I had for 3 years since Foundation in Taylor's. She joined AIESEC for a trip to Thailand to teach English to students there. She went during our summer break in 2010/2011. Other than just teaching, this pretty young lady travelled around Thailand and immersed herself with the wonderful Thai culture. Thailand may be near to Malaysia but we don't know what is going on there until we truly experience it ourself. Her motto after this fabulous trip 'Differences aside, togetherness through English'

These are the students that she had and trust be for the few months there, a bond was created and she misses them a lot.

The people that where just like her, take the risk and explore new places!

So will do take a chance and do something great?

Taylor's Career & Employment Fair 2012

Call me 'kiasu' but I'm hoping to win something out of this! *fingers crossed*

I totally got sucked into this Golden Ticket Contest where just by being active and participate in the coming Taylor's Career & Employment Fair 2012. Of course the contest is only for Taylor's students but the fair is open to public. Look at the flyer below for details and for further details, do visit www.taylors.edu.my.

There's about 68 participating prestigious companies from diverse industries to meet and recruit Taylor's students! I'm so excited, this is just so related to me now.

But to be in the running of the Golden ticket, there are some work needed to be done. We were asked to attend at least of the preparation workshops to attain workshop stamp.

Then, we need to fill up these question where you only can get the answers when you are in the fair itself. The worst part is coming up with a slogan, definitely not my forte, I'm terrible at slogans. Can any one help me? Lols.

Hehe, let's see what happens. I will update you on the event soon. :D Oh god, talking about this, I need to get my resume prepared!

Other than that, Taylor's will also be having a One Day WOW Experience for you!

Taylor's School Mag Boot Camp 2012

Hello everyone, they organized a School of Communication (SOC) Mag Bootcamp! A place where they step in the shoes of a writer.

Let's go!

Multi-purpose-hall re-branded to the Grand Hall.

Registration time!

Teachers talking to Lectures.

They brought their school magazines to be displayed!

Phweettt, Ms Josephine!
The Dean of Taylor's School of Communication. Always there to give a welcome speech.

Hands up who wants to be in the media line?!

My famous Media Law lecturer! I kena bom from him once cause I wasn't doing his work in class. Okay, I admit, I'm not the perfect student, I do misbehave.
His class is awesome, he taught me so much about copyright, breach of confidence and the rights of one's work. It may be very theoretical but he somewhat made most of his lectures work by adding some interesting elements that catches us students attention.
He is Mr Justin Victor, also the Programme Director of Bachelor of Journalism.

A young but strict lecturer when it comes to marking. She had her fair experience working with The Star News desk. I remember she would tell us stories about her job as a journalist and telling us that no matter what, there will be people out there that disagree with your article. Journalist have to learn the art of being Thick Face and not afraid to ask questions. Her statement changes my perspective of a journalist job, much hard work, sweat and tears poured into one single article. You have to be very strong in every aspect to be a great journalist. She taught me International Media Communication (IMC).

Pencil or pen? Doesn't really matter as long as it gets you writing!

Hehe before writing, journalist needs to be able to control their emotions. It will be so unprofessional of you if you get overly excited when you are interviewing a superstar, if you get too emotional flamed when trying to report a political matter or even gets too emotionally attached while reporting an unfortunate incident.

Taylor's brings to you the man that can Psycho you! Hehe, my funny yet serious Psychology Lecturer taught me in foundation. He can make a joke and keep his facial expression still. Goodness, how I miss his lecture but hated his exams questions. Lols.

You should know who is this. Shame on you if you don't!
He is the very famous.

The hall of essentials for Communication student. Left&Right you will find a room that suits your needs.

Newsroom.

PR Point. A place where all PR students come and ber-brainstorm for ideas.

Collect data....

Brainstorm..
This room is where all my classmates and I bond on the day of assignment due. Haha, last minute work and printing! It shows everyone's true colours when they are under pressure!

Interview related people for our article later.
Journalist use all kinds of recording devices. Why I don't see no use paper and pen?! lols.

Miss, Questions.....

Ok, let's file our news to our editors now!
With a Mac Computer in Taylor's Mac Lab.
Other than just writing the news here, Comm students uses them to design our magazine and newspaper layout with Adobe Indesign.

So this is one example of a hard news. Hard news are exactly like those you see on the breaking news section of the newspapers. They are considered as important and serious news where they reports mainly based on facts using who, what, when, where, why & how (5Ws&1H) to present the news. News Reporting was one of my HD subjects :p

More Hard News sample.

Another Hard news.

The man of all hard news writings!
He worked many, many, many years in the Hard news desk of The Star Publication.
One awesome lecturer, he taught me Reporting For Media (RFM), which is where I got my high distinction.

This is a feature article, if you can tell the difference, they are more relax and easy to read.
Though, it is always mistaken as the easiest to write. They require more in depth research as it is not just reporting the facts. Sensory language used here are significant and the reader need to be able to capture the emotions of your work piece.

Another feature article

Hello Mr Nicholas
Do you remember him from one of my featured Taylorian?
He's my senior majored in Journalism, his bunch of friends are one of the best group of journalism students, they are smart and very intellectual.

Q&A

Almost to the end, applause applause!

Check out the prizes, gosh why didn't they give these things to their students as a incentives while I was studying? :(

I'm glad that Taylor's didn't go cheap on the prizes! These three items are definitely very useful for those aspires to be a journalist or a writer. Yes with iPod, you can record interviews, not just to play musics.

Congrats winners!

Aw..... Mr Nicholas have some fans :D

Faces around the event!
