Piece of me yo!

I just need to blog about this here because there is no way I am going to blog about it in own blog without people knowing about this. Yes, it has something to do with Taylor's, is not about me.

So is quite a usual thing for me to go back to college during my breaks due to some events to cover and all. Also, today I was supposed to be donating blood but what a pity that they found be being underweight. I just missed by 1kg, cis, so sad as I so badly wanted to show you all kind of the whole process and all. Anyways, I still managed to cover it which all thanks to Max Choong for being my model. haha. This will be in LOAT-V soon.

After that, Jolyn my friend needed some interview info from the cleaners, security guard, cafe staff and all these small people in the college that are usually under-appreciated in Taylor's. She needs it for an article in Taylor's newsletter. So, we went around blindly scouting for these people. She interviewed a few workers but the two staff that strikes me are the security guard and the lady cleaner. You know what they say that made my eyes popped out?! Listen to this, I'm paraphrasing by the way, 'The students here are generally very well mannered and nice, of course there are some that are a bit rude but only a very small portion of them.' The security guard added this 'some even wave to us while they are driving pass us as a sign of thank you.' This phrase really made me feel like even little things like this, it helps them to feel appreciated. FYI, I do wave at them too, hehe, is in my genes from my dad.

Anyways, what surprises my friend and I was to hear them say that Taylor's students are generally nice which we thought before the interview that we going to get some harsh complaints saying that the students are snobby or rude or totally thinks that they are all that with the cash and the education. Blah blah blah. Myth to the max!

Clarification session!
TRUTH OUT!
  1. Super stereotype to say Taylor's students are rich.
  2. Super stereotype to say Taylor's students are spoil brats. (which I thought initially we are)
  3. Super stereotype to say Taylor's students have no manners or respect.
  4. Super stereotype to say Taylor's students are all Smart. XD (I will explain later)

Super stereotype to say Taylor's students are rich.

This happens all the time especially when people are giving advise on forums or chatbox etc. They always say:
  • 'If rich/got money then go Taylor's or else choose other university'
  • 'Only rich people go Taylor's'
Myth myth myth. Just because Taylor's got a few amazingly good looking cars it doesn't mean that all of us are rich because we got more not-so-good-looking cars. Just because Taylor's fee is truly quite costly, that doesn't naturally make all of us rich. Is because Taylor's over the years have earn a title for themselves and wanting the best service for their students with all the computers and printers and etc thus making the fee seems higher.  Taylor's have a lot of scholarship holders too, does that naturally makes us all poor? I don't think so. We are average.

Super stereotype to say Taylor's students are spoil brats.
and

Super stereotype to say Taylor's students have no manners or respect.

I have just confirmed that it is a myth. haha. At first, Kaven told me that during her feet injury, students do give way to her first. So we do be nice to people that are temporarily OKU, to me no biggie, that is natural reaction that any human should have, is either that or you are practically a heartless loser. Other than that, I never really thought that Taylor's student are actually nice to the security guards, cleaners and other workers. Sometimes we do talk to them and ask them how they are doing and all. I know I will always say sorry to the cleaners who are mopping or sweeping the floor when I need to pass by that particular way. I feel bad as they hardworking-ly cleaned the floor but a crap-kid like me have to come and dirty the floor again with my dirty-fugly footwear. Also, as I observed, some of us do clean up after our meal, simple things like throwing food containers, or bring the plates to the designated area and etc.

Though, there is one thing I have to point out because Jolyn and I saw it with our naked eyes, it freak us out. There was this guy trying to do good by recycling a plastic cup, so he was looking at the recycling bin for 5 seconds and finally chose to put into the area written plastic. Pretty normal right? How noble. NOT. Hear this, the horrifying part is that the cup that he nicely put into the recycling bin was still 60% filled with juice!!!! Oh my Gosh right! Yes, we are encourage to recycle but I mean please, Phua Chu Kang will hit your head and say 'USE YOU BRAIN, USE YOU BRAIN'. Maybe Taylor's should have a talk on 'Recycling: How to do it properly'. Jolyn and I were pretty pissed about it but is true what Jolyn had said, we should have stopped him from doing that ridiculous thing. Partly our fault too.

Super stereotype to say Taylor's students are all Smart. XD

Myth too!! Haha, quite an understatement you might say but is true. Some of us barely make it through. Some are just better in their practical work while some just are amazing in exams. Some are good at talking and some are good at writing. Some can think out of the box while some are just plain square (haha). Of course, we do have those all rounder with triple threats around the campus but those are besides the point. Every student have their own straight and weakness. So I guess we are all kind of smart in our own ways, haha, talking about clashing with the topic. Whatever, I have made my point.

Comment if there is a need!

Selamat Hari Raya + RTM Trip!

Woots, I guessed I have been away for almost 2 weeks now. I am having my semester break now + Raya break. Really busy with assignments and accapella practice and etc but college life have been good.

A while back, I had a class trip to RTM Angkasapuri. It was pure fun as we got to check out the behind the scenes of broadcasting TV and Radio. Besides that, we go back to the history of broadcasting machines. It's a muzium filled with big old machines. I guess the older it is, the bigger the machine is. Some of those items were as old as 1960s.

A tour guide explained about the old radio broadcast machine.
It used to be super manual.
Apparently radio DJs back then are more talented in multitasking because everything now is digital.

Clearer view of the machine.
Okay yes, and a clearer view of me. XD
Vain pot!

I am assuming that this is somewhat like a projector or something.

All these equipments looked so fragile, like it would break anytime.
Of course, during the tour,
I will be the usual me touching every single buttons to figure out what does it do.

New fact for me, did you know that in the olden days,
editors literally cut out the films and glue them back with special glue as video editing?
Their work must be horrendously tedious.
I mean like now, I can just use movie maker or final cut pro and click click click!

You guessed it,
a super old broadcast camera.
Check the new one out below.

It's amazing how much things change right?!
Way more modern and cool.

As you can see, the background is green right.
but when you see it on TV

There are buildings!
Most of us were so fascinated by it.
A picture with a host of 'Selamat Pagi Malaysia'

So that is the TV building

Next up, Radio station.

RTM Studio radio!

You can't see the tour guide here as I guessed everyone was so curious to see everything.
I just found out that day that RTM have quite a number of radio stations.
Honestly, I never really heard of them because I was so tuned in to private stations all the time.

oh dear God, will I be jail for this??
Nah... I was allowed to take pictures for that day!

Say Hi to Double D!
Thank you so much for letting us go on air and have our 10 minutes of fame.
I had it on tape, shall post it up once I edited it.

That is all for radio.
Before I end,

there were loads of security guarding the place.

Yup, so I was at complex Angkasapuri! Almost done here.

Final picture of the day! Let's sing nobody nobody but you! *clap clap*
