Warning: No Fishing Unless is FISHING DAY!

Our lake is finally utilized!

Fishing competition was held on the 30 July 2011. It's a Saturday morning and everyone was so ready with their fishing rods in hoping to catch the biggest fish! The twist is that you don't get to keep the fish, it will be released back to the lake. :)

It will be so cool if they allowed students to fish on other days xD

Competition in Taylor's University

One amazing character that Taylor's University offers are the chances to step up you game and skills in that certain talent you have by joining in competitions. I mean really, even in other university, students shouldn't take them for granted. Whether is it for fun, to enhance your skills or for your portfolio, if you win, you leave with great prizes and satisfaction!

Doesn't matter if it is inter-college or closed tournament. At least your are getting your butt out there and doing something rather than just being like any other student out there that might just graduate with a degree like yours. What will separate you from them and get a higher chance for a better career? A good resume with all your activities.

Recently, I stumbled across 2 competitions. All links to FB event page.

Campus Issues feedback

We all Hated a few problems that Taylor's University is facing and our Student Council took the responsibility to talk to person-in-charged and gotten back some feedbacks. Below is what they have to say:

Hello Taylorians! We are back with more updates on some issues in campus. We met with the representatives from the management and gotten some feedback from them! :)

Parking Issues

Parking Fees
Result from Facebook Poll : RM 3 is too expensive.
  • Feedback:  RM 3 is the recommended rate from Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) & Bandar Sunway Residence Association (BSRA). Moreover, the parking fees of RM 3 is insufficient to cover the operation of the carpark, so Taylor's University actually subsidises part of the parking fees.

Insufficient Parking Area
  • Feedback: By the year 2014, a multi-storey carpark will be built.

Safety of Students @ Parking
  • Feedback: More security guards patrol and extra steps have been taken to ensure students' safety on campus. Additional lighting @ new parking zones are not feasible because lands are not owned by Taylor's University.

Shuttle Bus Services

Termination of Shuttle Services
  • Feedback: Shuttle Bus Services will continue as normal
Late Shuttles to & fro Sunway Pyramid
  • Feedback: Management urge students to log report on Student Portal to notify late shuttles. As current drivers of Shuttles to & for Sunway Pyramid are Taylor's University employees, the management will give more attention to the matter.

Sport Facilities

Bathrooms & Changing Rooms to be allocated near to sports centre
  • Feedback: Permanent bathrooms & changing rooms are rejected because the current sports facilities are only temporary facilities. In the Phase 2 Development of Lakeside Campus, a permanent sports complex will be built with all neccessary facilities provided. In addition, portable toilets are still in discussion to determine where about to locate it.

Wildlife Sightings on Campus

Snakes, dogs, and Cattle
  • Feedback: The usage of sulphur has been done extensively to keep snakes away from campus ground. Animal control have been contacted to remove dogs on campus however this has sparked criticism from students with regards to animal cruelty which led to stop of efforts by Taylor's University. Cattles will be removed by June.

This is all the updates that we gotten feedbacks on. We, TUSC will continue to provide you updates on the welfare issues of Taylor's University Students. :)

With warm regards,
Chris

What Happened in MyBio Carnival?

Before attending, I expected to see clowns, balloons, game booths, cotton candy or other things that you usually see in a carnival. I was literally uber-excited wanted to get my cash out and buy some cotton candies and balloons :D BUT Man I was wrong! So WRONG! It's not a fun fair, it's an education carnival!

It was fun to see telescopes, beakers, test tubes and all the apparatus for experiments again. Hehe, it reminds me of my times in High School learning Chemistry and Biology. So much amazing stuff have been showcased in the carnival. Gave me a whole new perspective on things that I never knew.

Unfortunately, I did not bring my camera. All photos taken from https://www.facebook.com/TaylorsUniversityMY
Don't forget to like them to get updates! They are pretty consistent in their updates.

Pursue Your Master and PhD with Taylor's!

I guess during these times we all know that having a degree is extremely common and is nothing huge. To get a better pay in job, you have to at least have the degree cert with you. So many people choose to go a step further by getting a Masters which is a smart move if you have the opportunity.

Personally, I told myself that I will not just stop at Degree. I will probably work for a while then get my Masters by the age of 30. If I have the opportunity, I'm going for my PhD :D

So I was going through Taylor's website and found out that now Taylor's is offering FOUR Master and FOUR PhD programmes!

And ehm! Of course not everyone got the financial to pursue their Master or PhD. I did some research and found something for YOU!

Scholarships!
Thank God for them!
