Changing a Flat Tire

My 4th semester ended on Monday. One of my final assignments is to shoot a video.

The title of this video was 'Changing a Flat Tire' and I was the director-cum-producer-cum-cameraman. Yes, I'm a jack of all trades guy. :p

Before I show you all the video, I would like to say thank you to the people who help in making this video possible.

Walking Short

Firstly, thank you to Nick for being my main actor of the video and also for helping me in the pre-production, production and post-production of the video.

Secondly, I like to thank Sooi Jin for being my assistant and second actor and I hope you know that I really appreciate your help.

Thirdly, I like to thank God for not making the sky to rain during that day I shot my video. Fourthly, thank you to Sue Yee and Ione for guiding me in editing the video. Fifthly, I want to thank The Mother because without her, I would not be born and make the video at all. Sixthly, I like to thank the car for not breaking down in the middle of shooting. And last but not least, I like to thank Mr. Edward Sim for not failing me. In that order of importance if you're wondering. xD

Ok enough of crapping. Here's the video and I hope you enjoy it and actually do get what my video is about (a lot of people don't get the ending for some reason). -____-

Now don't disturb me. I'm waiting for Oscar to ring my phone anytime.

Flash Animation

After 2 weeeks, I have finally finished my Digital Media Concepts Assignment 2 - Flash Animation. It's really a stupid assignment, considering I needed 2 weeks to do something that lasts only 15 seconds. -____-

Oh well, at least I'm done with it. As I don't know how to upload flash to blog, I just show you pictures, ok?

Any resemblance is just pure coincidence. :D

Graduation

Like everyone, I want to dress like Harry Potter and wear the mortarboard.

I do not have a very high expectation of myself. I just hope that I could graduate as soon as possible, find a steady job, get married, have children despite my erectile dysfunction and live long enough to see my children themselves graduate. Hopefully even longer until I can see my own grandchildren graduate. :D

However, after looking at the pictures of past graduates of Taylor's and the continuing trend, I have some doubt on myself.

Oh dear. Is it me or the graduates are getting lesser and lesser by every year? o.O

Malaysiakini and Taylor's

In case you don't know, Taylor's has subscribed to Malaysiakini since God know when.

All you have to do is click the IP button at the homepage in any computers as long as you're within Taylor's network to access it.

Now, it's good news for you.... but bad for me. You see, I just subscribed to it using my OWN MONEY a day before one of my lecturers informed me about this free service.

@#%$!!

Meeting Citizen Nades

Yesterday, Citizen Nades of The Sun came to give us a talk.

Now, I'm not going to google about him and act like I really know about him or what because seriously, I never ever read about him or heard about him for that matter. Well, it's mainly because I do not read The Sun as their content is never enough for me and The Mother always teach me that free stuffs no good stuffs. XD

However, I must admit I was dumbfounded by him. The stuffs he said were so true and you really could feel his passion for his work as an investigative journalist from the way he spoke. And it did added a sense of reality about his work when he needed to answer his phone to discuss with his colleagues regarding MBPJ (go read newspaper lah lol). It was such a good talk but the only spoiler the day was the stupid microphone did not function well. -___-

Including this time, it would be the second talk regarding journalism I have attended, having previously went for the talk by Indrani Kopal back in May.

I really hope that Taylor's would continue to invite more guest speakers like them to give the Mass Comm students a talk because it's an eye-opener indeed. It's my privilege to be able to listen to their careers and stories. :D

Now, since we already have guest speakers from Malaysiakini and The Sun, so next on the agenda could be... these people.

.....

I hope not.

Taylor's College on Fire

Well, everyone should know about the burning car incident in Leisure Commerce Square by now you have no life lah if you don't know about it yet :P.

Yupe, it was just this afternoon that me and a few of my classmates were complaining that there's lack of excitement in TCPJ (trust me, when you have been here for the 4 semesters, it's lunatic). And then, out of nowhere this incident happened and everyone was happily forced to evacuate the building. Now I know I need to be careful what I wish for. >.<

*DRINNNNGGGGGGGG*

STUDENTS: Sir, fire!

LECTURER: Don't worry, it's surely a false alarm.

*DRINNNNGGGGGGGG*

STUDENTS: Sir, fire!

LECTURER: Don't worry, I go check. *Went to check* See, I told you it's a false alarm.

*DRINNNNGGGGGGGG*

STUDENTS: Sir, fire!

LECTURER: Don't worry, if there's real fire, I will be the first to run.

CLEANER: *Came in* Ada api! Cepat turun!

LECTURER: ....

STUDENTS: ....

LECTURER: Urm, please use the staircase.

STUDENTS: ARHHHHHHH!!! *Run*

It really open my eyes when I came down from B1-05-13. Due to this incident, for the first time I realized that Taylor's actually does have a huge amount of students in here.

Really makes me wonder where they have been hiding at all these while.

All of us continued to walk until to the entrance. It was at the main entrance that we confirmed that there's really a car which was unfortunately exploded/burnt/fried/steamed in the underground parking (level P3 if I'm not mistaken). Due to safety reason, all those people who parked their cars at there were forced to wait until 6PM - according to Szujane's - before they can went down to get their cars.

See, that's why you all should be a smart parker like ME and park outside the university! Plus, it's cheaper! XD

Anyway, here's the video of the evacuation which I recorded.

What? Got problem with me is it now? As a mass communication student, of course I need to always prepare for a situation like this! :P

**UPDATE:

Picture from zap-fye-er :P

OMG ROASTED CAR!!!

July '08 Intake Orientation

Last Thursday, I went to Taylor's to become a free labor student helper for the orientation.

Actually I was very lazy to go, but since her highness Miss Kaven commanded me to go, it would be better to go and suffer for a day than suffer an entire semester filled with torture and sadomasochism by her as a consequence of not going at all.

While helping out, I was hoping to meet The Only Visitor To This Blog Michelle in the orientation, but the entire hall was packed like a sardine can. Even if I grow another pair of eyes also cannot find her. @.@

Anyway, to the new Taylorians, congratulation for making it to Taylor's. But enjoy while it lasts. >)

Taylor's 40th Anniversary Logo Design Contest

To whoever would wish to join Taylor's 40th Anniversary Logo Design Contest, forget about it.

Why? Well, because the RM10k is as good as in my pocket already. After ten minutes days of blood, sweat and tears, I have finally completed my masterpiece which will clinch the grand prize for me. So needless to say, if you almost finish your design, quit now while you can because I can really use one less competitor you will lose for sure and bow down to the superior - namely, me.

You see, not only it's beautiful, I also have fulfilled the small, small details. I got put in the color red and black. I also got incorporate the number '40' and word 'Taylor's'. Plus, I even got a tagline! Har, try to beat that!

So behold! *JEN* *JEN* *JEN* *JENNNNNGGG*

Hohohoho... told you I confirm I will win. Though I'm not too sure about the first criteria (your logo should be original, modern yet tasteful). XD

Dress to Kill

Man, I have been busy with my assignments that I wasn't aware with what's happening with Taylor's recently (I'm on holidays now).

One of my assignments

Apparently, there will be a dress code from 1st of July onwards.

You know those drill. No shorts, no slippers, no spaghetti straps, blah blah blah. And the students were clearly unimpressed with it. So unimpressed 'til the extent of creating a group in Facebook.

Yes, there's such group in Facebook. -____-

As to date, there are 272 students (officially) declared themselves against this whole dress code issue. One Eu-Roy Lai commented about it:

Even if the rules were in the rulebook, TUC did not enforce it before, and they then suddenly force us to oblige to it now? Your asking us to see it from TUC's pov, what about you seeing it from our points?
Its like if theres a rule forbidding us from saying obscene language from the start, and wasn't enforced and then suddenly implemented now.
Heck, i'm already so used to saying ''fuck'' i cant just stop saying ''fuck'' right? fuck! :(
Thus, this group for us students to try and figure a way to fight for what we think is right.
Rules are made, but that doesn't mean they're not supposed to be changed! The Americans had the articles of confederation but it wasn't suitable. what happened? the new constitution with its AMENDMENTS! FOR GOD'S SAKE!
Heck, don't even know why i bother explaining it to people where this rule does not apply to.

Well, at least look at the bright side, Eu-Roy Lai. They are not making us wear chastity belt what. And when I read about it, it reminds of the dress code controversy in UUIM (read about it at here and here).

Now there's only 4 days left before 1st of July comes. I'm really interested to know what will happen on that day.

*Sigh* Too bad I'm on holidays right now. If not, I can join into the commotion. XD

Yakitate!! Brioche

brioche (brē-ôsh', -ōsh')
n.

A soft, light-textured bread made from eggs, butter, flour, and yeast and formed into a roll or a bun.

Now I know what 'brioche' in 'Le Brioche' means. XD

Le Brioche @ Taylor's Pastry Corner is a small shop located just beside the mamak stall in LCS (if you're wondering which mamak stall, it's the one which serve Western food). The tiny pastry corner is, I believe, ran by students of Taylor's School of Hospitality and Tourism.

I always want to go in there (especially after the huge influence of Yakitate!! Japan), but it always seems that it's either I'm freaking busy with my assignments, or it closed when I wanted to go. But finally, when I went there last Thursday, I was not busy and it's not closed. :D

I bought myself 3 pieces of croissants at the price RM1.

CHEAP! - the only word which I could think of to describe it.

Well, I have never enjoy being a laboratory mice, but the temptation of RM1 for 3 was simply too hard to resist. Especially when my wallet is undergoing recession.

And like before, the theory 'laboratory mice' was proven wrong once again because the croissants weren't half-bad. In fact, they were good. Heck, it was really good. So good that I....

I....

I....

JA-PAN!! (You won't get it if you never read Yakitate!! Japan)

Note: For more information of Le Brioche, visit this blog. Oh, that reaction was supposedly to be the reaction for the 'Sushi-style Melon Ja-pan' and not '324-Layer Croissant Ja-pan'. But heck, who cares? :P

Taylor's University College Pte Ltd

Taylor's University College produces loan sharks. And I got proof.

I'm glad I don't know him in person.

Meeting Indrani Kopal

Last Wednesday, we had a guest speaker from Malaysiakini.

I need to cut my hair

If you're wondering who is it, it's Indrani Kopal. She's a full-time video journalist in Malaysiakini, who was here to enlighten us of the importance of using media in a more meaningful (and less censorship) way. In case you don't know who she is, you might recognise her from her work "She's my son" which is about transsexuals in Malaysia and have won award in Freedom Film Fest 2007.

Part 1:

Part 2:

It was a really interesting talk indeed, which I think Cnigel will be cursing me by now for not inviting him to come over if he read about this entry. But throughout the talk, I was actually quite scared that police will suddenly barge in and arrest me. T__T

No illegal gathering with more than 3 people!

But heck, throughout the 2 hours, there was not even a mosquito to bother us. Besides talking about her work in Malaysiakini, she also share with us what Malaysiakini's future plans, how politicians always kick them out from press conference, how bias the mainstream media is (like always) and et cetera.

The most interesting thing I have learnt throughout the talk was how she got the job. She's actually a lab assistant in LimKokWing University prior her current job and she self-taught all the video concepts and techniques (basically, what I learn in the stupid DMT class) during her free time at there. And despite the lack of degree and qualification in Mass Comm, she still ended up hired by Malaysiakini.

Man, if I know any sooner like that also can be a journalist, I would study an easier subject - say, Nuclear Engineering - and still become a journalist. XD

Super Busy

You know something?

They presenting about Chua Sok Lei's sex scandal -___-

You ask any adults, they will reply you that college and university life are the best part of their lives because you won't have any worries or stress (Hakuna Matata) since you are financially supported by your parents. Plus, your amount of freedom will increase dramatically compare to during secondary school. So with unlimited amount of money plus almost total freedom, campus life is heavenly.

RIGHT.

DMT Class

Obviously they forgotten about the existence of assignments. -____-

Sardine Can

I never use the valet parking service although it's available in LCS.

One, I don't like strangers to touch my car. Two, it's expensive. Actually that's all the reasons I don't use it but there's a 'three' after I just learn last week that the valet boys actually park your cars like this.

I think it should be renamed to valet stacking instead.

Cooking Master Boy

You know, besides The Girlfriend's birthday, I hardly spend time inside the kitchen. Mostly because The Mother don't want me to burn down her kitchen.

And when I do enter the kitchen, the most "difficult" dish I ever prepared is Maggi Goreng with Egg and Luncheon Meat™ and that is if I didn't over-goreng it. Hence, it should explains a lot why a boy like me should stay away from kitchen as far as possible.

But it's the other way around for Edward Ho Jun Jie, who became the YOUNGEST student to complete cuisine course in Taylor's University College. And he's 13 years old this year. o.O

He enrolled Taylor’s International Certification in Cuisine (Basic) course in November last year and graduated early this year. And his accomplishment is well-known to the nation, provided if you do read newspaper. He was featured in Kosmo and The Star in February.

......

I'm pretty sure when I was 13, I was still learning how to fry an egg.

He Got It From His Mama

Remember about my DMT class?

Happy feet and sexy back

On Wednesday we were divided into three groups and needed to do a short film around 15 seconds. Well, it was something for a change since I did not need to die from boredom and hear another word about techniques and theories again. XD

This is one of the three short films and believe me, you will love it. :P

Hey Christien New, I found a suitable guy for your movie. ;)

Life is Good

I saw Christien New yesterday.

He was much smaller than the one I had in mind. To be frank, I wasn't quite [s]excited when I saw him if compared during that time when I met Michelle Yeoh. Maybe because of the fact I'm not that fond with local celebrities or that he's a guy which didn't get me interested. XD

Not sure why he was here, but I guess it's gotta do with 'Life is Good a.k.a. Back to School'.

Brazenly funny yet deeply human, the film kicks off when Malaysia’s Celebrity Couple decides to do a research for their upcoming talkshow, which ended with them enrolling into a university as observers for an insight on students today. While being a mentor to their newfound friends, the duo experiences an often humorous journey, which also enfolds with conflicting emotions, love, and frustrations of the university students. Today, a degree definitely comes with a higher price.

O.... kay. -_____-

I would like to go for the audition, but since I dance like a duck, sing like William Hung and the only dribble I know is when I drink water, I figure it would be a waste of time. Besides, The Mother paid big bucks to get me into Taylor's. If she found out I'm doing such thing...

.....

Let's not discuss about it.

Anyway, for more reasons your mother to castrate you information, please click here at your own risk.
